I am an experienced sailor and racer and would love to do Pac Cup '24. I raced all 4 years at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and quite a bit over the years since then. I also owned and lived aboard a Morgan 32 for 3 ½ years. I have raced all positions on a boat, from J-24s in Narragansett Bay, up to the Big Boat Series for years in San Francisco on 50+ footers. Crewed Annapolis-Newport and Bermuda-Halifax years ago, and skippered Newport-Bermuda.
More recently, I have been regular crew (main or primary trim) on a J/111 in Charleston, SC, but he recently announced he’s selling the boat. That owner is still committed to some upcoming races, like the Gulfstreamer ocean race from Daytona Beach, FL to Charleston, SC in late May, but I’ve started to shop around for other sporty and competitive rides (but still fun and good crew comraderie).
I did main on a J/120 for an offshore race last month (Rockville to Charleston). Did main on a Melges 32 for a couple of races earlier this month. And for Charleston Race Week last week, I did mast for 4 days on a J/88 that travelled down from New York.
In addition to racing, I’ve cruised my boat or bareboat chartered on the U.S. east coast, BVI and Guadalupe>Dominica>Martinique.
I have also made it my goal to prioritize doing more of the ‘big’ races in upcoming years, so I completed the 2-day, hands-on training of the U.S. Sailing International Offshore Safety at Sea certification earlier this month at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. I will probably renew my CPR/AED/First Aid certification before July, too. I used to teach Scuba (good for last-minute bottom cleaning or to clear entanglements?), and can do celestial nav (hopefully unnecessary!)
I’m 6’ tall and 177 lbs. Most people guess I’m 40. To stay fit, lean and athletic, I lift weights and do a lot of hot vinyasa flow yoga – mobility and flexibility, along with some cardio and strength training.
I’m a team player, and easy to get along with. I’m ready to help you make your boat go fast!
