Blaine has been racing sailboats for more than 35 years and, despite overwhelming evidence, continues to believe this is a reasonable way to spend his time.

As a trimmer, he specializes in moving sails a few inches at a time and explaining afterward why those few inches were critical to performance. He is also known for developing strong opinions about sail selection, weather routing, and virtually everything else on the boat, generally after-the-fact.

His racing résumé includes a handful of Hawaii races, countless 505 capsizes, and a collection of confidently delivered forecast predictions that failed to materialize.

For this Pac Cup, Blaine hopes to contribute speed, good humor, and just enough competence to avoid becoming part of a post-race incident report.
