The Boat
eXpresso is a racer cruiser designed by X-Yachts of Denmark and is the Xp 44 model. We named her eXpresso to convey that our boat is a “fast caffeinated ride”.And also because Xp 44 owners tend to find to work Xp into the name. My wife came up with the name as she did with our prior boat Ventana, which is also entered into the 2026 Pacific Cup. I had been searching for this model and located one on the East Coast and closed the deal in April 2023. I decided to keep her in Newport RI area for the summer and did the NYYC Annual Regatta, and Edgartown Race Weekend where we placed 2nd in the Round the Island Race around Martha’s Vineyard. Also sailed with friends up to Maine and back. From there in late October 2023 we sailed her from Newport to Bermuda to Antigua, where she spent few months. We did the Antigua 360 and RORC Caribbean 600 in Feb 2024. From there sailed with friends and family through Nevis, St Kitts, St Barts, BVI, USVI and Spanish Virgin Islands. Then put her on a ship in St Thomas to Ensenada where I sailed her to her home port SF Bay Area.
So 2025 is her first season in SF Bay. We did GGYC Seaweed Soup Midwinters where we had one bullet and took 3rd for the series. We also did some YRA Ocean Series races including Half Moon Bay (2nd) and Jr Waterhouse (3rd).
Very excited about Pacific Cup and looking forward to meeting everyone.
Best,
