I raced my Valiant 32, s/v MORNING STAR, to Hawaii in the 2024 Pac Cup as a double handed entry. I had previously made two single-handed crossings in this boat, once in the Single-handed Transpacific Yacht Race (2018), and once cruising on my own (2020). I single-handed back all three times. The 2024 Pac Cup inspired me to become more active in racing, and I have spent 2025 crewing on racing boats, rather than just solo sailing my cruising boat. I have done most positions on A-sym boats (J/99, J/109), and competed in buoy races and distance races in the PNW -- most notably completing all 9 legs of the 2025 Van Isle 360. I have worked as a marine diesel mechanic here in Seattle for the last 5 years, and know my way around electronics and most other boat systems. I can travel at my own expense to meet and train, and would be available to be crew or skipper on the return from Kaneohe. For a boat based here on Puget Sound I am available to help with all phases of boat prep. I am calm under pressure, have never been sea sick, and get along well with most everybody. I am a non-smoker, and do not consume alcohol or other recreational substances at sea. I am in excellent health, work out regularly, and don't take up much room (5'7"/150 lbs).
