A spot on a boat
Direction
SF to Hawaii

I have approximately 17,000 hours of sailing experience in the capacity of skipper, mostly on San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean and have been sailing for over 50 years. Completed 5+ Pacific crossings, as owner/skipper/navigator, including 3 PacCups: 2016, 2022, and 2024.

Racing experience:

--several seasons skippering an M-scow in the Midwest.  Really learned sailing fundamentals racing one-design in this class and became a decent driver, especially in heavy conditions.

--Owned and skippered a Santana 22 in mostly one-design racing in a competitive fleet.  Competed in several hundred races in this class, and this fleet schooled me extensively on sailing in heavy breeze and current.  Sailing in the Santana was mostly just in the bay, with the rare ocean trip.  Was season Champion 8 times.

--Owned, maintained and skippered an Express 27, in another competitive one-design fleet.   Hundreds of races in this boat, mostly in the bay, but several ocean races, including the Drakes Bay race in 2007 , which we won overall (in both directions!). This race was conducted in near gale conditions, winds of 30+ knots

-- 3 PacCup Races as owner/skipper/navigator

I am very familiar with Expedition and have been using it, even for cruising, since 2016.  I am good at driving and trimming both displacement and planing boats in heavy conditions. I am experienced with prepping a boat for open ocean sailing.  I am current with SAS certification.  I am 73, and in good physical and mental condition.  I haven't been seasick in decades.  References upon request.
